During your course, you’ll be required to complete a number of assignments. These do not contribute towards your final grade but provide you with an opportunity to submit work to your tutor for marking and feedback. This will help you to gauge your progress as you work through the course.

Course Content

To study Law, you need to first understand the differences between criminal and civil law, and the role law plays in society. In this module, you will explore the effect of law on enforceable rights as well as the importance of fault in the context of law, morality and the justice system. This will help you understand how laws are made and enforced.
Now you understand the nature of law, you will explore in-depth the rules and principles that underpin criminal law; in particular, you’ll focus on elements concerning criminal liability and liability for offences against the person, property offences and attempt. You’ll learn about the different types of offences and discover how autonomy, fault and individual responsibility play a role in justice.
The rules of tort law focus on principles concerning liability, defence, and remedies when someone commits a wrong against another person. This encompasses claims made to right the wrongs, and you’ll learn about the policy factors governing liability.
This optional module covers the essential requirements, rules, and principles of contract law; you’ll learn about how contract law provides a legal framework for parties to regulate their agreements and resolve disputes. This concerns the formation, different terms, vitiating factors, discharge of a contract, and associated remedies of contract law. You’ll also understand how contract law protects the consumer.
In this optional module, you’ll grapple with the rules and principles of law relating to the right to life, to liberty and security of person, to privacy, to freedom of expression, plus more! You’ll discover the scope of ‘fundamental human’ rights and the history of human rights in the UK and internationally.

If you choose to find your own exam centre, you can, you will need to register with them as an external or private candidate. Fees vary across the country so we recommend enquiring prior to enrolment.
Yes! You study the same curriculum, take the same examinations and get the same qualification. The only difference is that the course is specially designed to be studied from home in your own time.
You will have access to your personal tutor, via email, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course to help you get ready for your examinations. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. Assignments are marked by your personal tutor within 5 days.
